Catalog / Pablo Picasso / Linocuts / Linocuts
The catalog leads through a cosmos of images of bullfighting scenes, mythological depictions and portraits. Picasso designed his linocuts like paintings – bold and colorful, which made the technique so appealing to him. The works created between 1954 and 1968 document above all Picasso's mature work and at the same time the pictures breathe the almost youthful vibrancy of an artist who, at the age of over 70, once again became an "apprentice" in a technique he had never tried before. With numerous test and condition prints, this volume also illustrates Picasso's experimental approach. As is so often the case when dealing with a new technique, he breaks away from conventional methods when it comes to linocut and confidently follows his own artistic path.
