Catalog / Friends' Rendezvous / Camoin, Marquet, Manguin, Matisse
The French painters Charles Camoin, Henri Manguin, Albert Marquet and Henri Matisse met in the years 1895-1898 at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in Gustave Moreau's class and remained friends throughout their lives. After a common Fauvist style period, they each went their own way in their further development.
The catalog for the exhibition in the Picasso Museum presents the artists, who are relatively unknown in Germany apart from Matisse, and sheds light on their similarities and mutual inspiration, but also on their artistic individuality.
