Le Corbusier, actually Charles-Edouard Jeanneret (1887-1965), is considered one of the most important architects of the 20th century. With his visionary ideas, the Swiss shaped the concept of progressive building, housing and life in the big city that is in harmony with modern technologies. In more than 50 creative years, Le Corbusier developed, planned and realized buildings in Europe, Asia and America – mostly made of concrete – which permanently changed the perception of our cities and had a decisive influence on modern architecture. The volume shows 146 drawings from the Fondation Le Corbusier. Works from a total of six creative decades are presented, from the young artist's first travel sketches to his late work.
