Catalog / Auguste Rodin / Rendezvous with Yong-Chang Chung
In the summer of 2006, the Korean Yong-Chang Chung created a series of 131 sheets in Paris by overdrawing in ink a book about Auguste Rodin's late erotic watercolors. The accidental find turned into an artistic affinity. Chung's graphic comments on Rodin's watercolors, which are captivating with their revealing eroticism, form a graphic shadow theater. The volume shows watercolors from the Musée Rodin in Paris, the Kunsthalle Bremen and the Saarlandmuseum in Saarbrücken and contrasts them with Chung's works. This creates an exciting dialogue in which different art epochs and cultures meet.
