Catalog / Antoni Clave
The artist Antoni Clavé, born in Barcelona in 1913, is considered a Catalan grand master of collage and graphics. Fleeing the Franco regime, he moved to France in 1939, where he met Pablo Picasso in 1944. His acquaintance shapes him, as does his friendship with his compatriot Joan Miró. In Paris, Clavé became a sought-after illustrator and designer of stage sets and costumes. From 1954 he devoted himself more to painting and celebrated international successes in Europe and Asia in the following decades.
The catalog brings together around 70 monumental triptychs, collages, paintings, sculptures and etchings and spans the period from 1939 to 2002. Antoni Clavé's work of this quality and density has not been available in book form for decades.
