Andy Warhol's Cow Wallpaper was the first in a series of wallpaper designs he created from the 1960s through the 1980s. According to Warhol, the inspiration for the work came from the art dealer Ivan Karp, who encouraged the artist to explore the pastoral image of a cow. Dyed bright pink and yellow, the wallpaper promptly appeared in Warhol's exhibitions and was pasted to gallery walls everywhere.
