To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the museum, in partnership with Artlys, is releasing a new guide to the collections. The book is structured like a chronology of Picasso's career, year by year, from 1895 to his last works in 1972, presenting each of these creative years through a work or a series of works, specific to the different periods, but also to all the techniques he uses are emblematic: paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, ceramics, photographs, etc.
By highlighting the richness and diversity of the collection, the book sheds new light on the many facets of Picasso's genius.
Thematic boxes break this chronology and offer a vivid clarification of about ten truths or untruths about the artist:
Picasso the Spaniard
Picasso and Africa
Picasso and Cubism
The Picasso style
Picasso, Matador or Minotaur?
Is Picasso a committed artist?
Picasso and the women
Picasso and childhood
A very detailed bio-chronology illustrated with numerous archival documents completes the book, in the spirit of this constantly renewed museum.
This book with its very reasonable price is an ideal book for a first reading about the artist.
