In the late 1970s, Keith Haring decorated the walls of the subway shafts in New York with his simple, two-dimensional figures. “The Radiant Child” becomes his trademark. In contrast to the graffiti scene, which exhausts itself in the repetition of such signatures ("tags"), Haring creates a versatile symbolic language that conveys the impression of mysterious messages.
