In 1955 Pablo Picasso left Vallauris to settle with his partner Jacqueline Roque at Villa La Californie, a few kilometers above Cannes. Hidden behind bars, the villa with its exotic garden allowed Picasso to quickly appropriate the space, setting up his studio in the living room, which gradually filled with works, various objects and his personal collection.
